Homeless Tales- On Doubt November 27, 2009Some days, I just don’t know if I can do this. I get lost in the minutiae of trying to organize agendas, calendars, dates, webpages, workarounds, emotional crisis, learning musical parts and generally trying to keep this leaky ship from capsizing on the rock of its own dysfunctions. I admire Jack Tafari. He shepherded Dignity Village from [...]MetisRebel

He who lives in a glass house should throw no stones. Very, very few people spend every dime in the most efficient way. Life is hard enough without self-righteous people thinking they can do better at living our lives than we can. I sent money, and I am very thankful that it could have provided some relief. Hang in there, Kevin.
I really like this dark theme: however, it looks a lot darker with the picture on the top: do you have a little brighter version of that same picture, or can you tweak it to look brighter (without getting ugly) in PhotoShop; or can you find a similar one where 40% of it isn’t more-or-less black? I think that could improve the look quite a bit.
As long as I’m alive I will support you Kevin in spite of such critics as Tim. God Bless You.
Hey Tim. Maybe if you were homeless you wouldn’t be so quick to judge Kevin. It is exhausting, and to have a bed for the night is a luxury most tske for granted.
I had been thinking of something darker all along, but wanted the multiple column thing as well. But 4 columns is too much, and for 2 columns I like this color. It fits the theme of this blog (in the valley of the shadow) better. I’m entering a new “season” as it were. Right now, there are few things I can change in these layouts – not until I pay for an upgrade, anyway. So, I’ve taken on a whole new layout. Things may change in the near future as I figure out what is available to me in this new service, and what I want to achieve with it. If you’re going to follow along, you may want to hold onto your hat.
Why did this page go suddenly dark??
I have received only 10 percent of what is required for me to obtain a permanent place to live. Still, I’m using that money for food and shelter, just as I would have if I’d gotten the full amount, only it’s on a much more temporary foundation – all that $500 can afford.
I’m sorry you have a problem with that, I sure don’t.
How much of that over $500 bucks of donation money have you spent on cheap hotel rooms and fast food? You should have saved it to get a home like you said you would. Those people are idiots for giving a voluntarily homeless man money when he had a perfectly good home and gave it up. Shame on you “homeless guy.”
It’s better than the other one.
I think you could combine the middle two columns and then your links could be on the left hand side.
I love the pictures on the top and side!
Ann
I don’t really like the theme; especially the four-column format. It makes the articles look way too tight, and having more links to the top isn’t really a benefit IMO. I’d stick to one-or-two columns, personally.
WordPress.com is a good blog host: and you can use Akismet for flitering out a /ton/ of spam (I’ve filtered out ~1000 spams from the last couple of months using it).
One downside for commenters, is that WordPress doesn’t have a “preview” option for comments such as this one.
Sorry for 2nd post. I especially like the sidebar with your photo’s instantly attached to your Flicker. Just showed your awesome lavender flower photo to someone, and said, I didn’t have time to go to Flicker to show her some more.
This would have made that easier to do. Your old blog looks great too.
Your parents put some garbage in your head when you were a child. That kid is still inside of you (like everyone else), but you must know that the man that takes those kind of photo’s is better than his parents made him feel.
Perhaps if you hadn’t experienced those things, you won’t have come to be what you are. Enterprising comes to mind. How many people can actually sell oragami boxes onn ebay? Or knit and sell ties?
Just commenting from things you have said on the other blog.
looks great not sure how it works
I could make it a 3 column blog.
I like the four columns. It’s different. I’m not sure how a long entry will fit into this format.
this looks very nice
